I was giving a presentation recently and one of the attendees enquired as to why there is no shirtless selfies or posed pictures on my facebook or on my website of me without my shirt on….
The seminar attendee said he was surprised by my response, since I often talk about the importance of practicing what you preach!!!

I ushered 4 words…”The mark of a great coach”…
It’s not about you as the strength and conditioning coach or you as the personal trainer..its about your clients…never ever forget that!!
In a world that rewards self promoting world that we live in…I’m more interested in seeing the results the strength and conditioning coach or personal trainer has produced for their clients, rather than how strong the coach is what the coach looks like with their shirt off..

In my opinion the mark of a great coach is someone that can make their athletes/clients better than themselves!
Joey Hayes never played AFL at the elite level but has produced more Elite junior AFL players than any other strength and conditioning coach in Australia.
So for all those shirtless selfies on every trainers facebook page, I’d simply urge them to demonstrate how they were able to make their clients better than what they were!
If they can’t, then I suggest they focus on their coaching skills and program design rather than facebook selfies.
All the best,
Joey Hayes
